Nemesis by Wilbur Smith and Tom Harper

This was a page-turner of a book that I found myself wanting to read rather than go out and do other things such as exercising. I don’t usually approve of books ‘written’ by famous authors ‘helped’ by others, especially when one of them is dead! These are just money-makers but this was rather a good story. I didn’t realise it was book 22 of the Courtney family series so, yes you can read them as standalone books.

Two strands of the Courtney family are engaged in revenge; Adam Courtney for the death of his father’s family and Paul Courtney for the death of his mother. The chapters alternate between the two stories.

Their stories move from Cape Town to Calcutta, mirroring each other by meeting women they fall in love with, fighting and escaping once captured, restless and waiting for the right moment.

One of the key ideas mentioned throughout the book is that the sins of the fathers are visited on the sons and how this can be stopped or even if the Courtneys want to stop it.

Of course the two stories collide with a definite ending for at least one of them.

A fantastic book.
